Consul-General of Thailand handed over financial assistance for humanitarian work to the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation

On November 5, 2020, Mr. Soradjak Puranasamriddhi, Consul-General of Thailand in Jeddah, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Ambassador Tarig Ali Bakheet, Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian, Cultural and Social Affairs of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) at the OIC headquarter in Jeddah to hand over the Royal Thai Government’s financial assistance of 21,069.43 USD to the Islamic Solidarity Fund (ISF) of the OIC to support its works in the humanitarian field in the OIC member states.

During the meeting, Consul-General of Thailand gave a briefing on the overview record of Thailand’s humanitarian assistance to the OIC member state on various occasions and reiterated Thailand’s readiness to continue to cooperate with the OIC on the issue, particularly during the current COVID-19 pandemic which affects not only health dimension but also social and economic spheres.

Both sides also discussed and exchanged views on the subject of mutual interests, among other things, the issue of development assistance, the exchange of expertise and future humanitarian aid.
