A reception on the commemorative occasion of Birthday Anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great, the National Day and Father’s Day of the Kingdom of Thailand on 5 December 2024
On 3 December 2024, the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Jeddah hosted a reception on the commemorative occasion of the Birthday Anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great, the National Day and Father’s Day of the Kingdom of Thailand on 5 December 2024, at the Shangri-la Jeddah Hotel, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The reception was presided by Mr. Adisorn Sittikarn, Acting Consul-General of Thailand in Jeddah, with approximately 150 esteemed guests attending the reception including members of the consular corps in Jeddah, distinguished representatives from international organisations in Jeddah and from both the public and private sectors.
On this occasion, the Royal Thai Consulate-General welcomed His Highness Prince Saud bin Abdullah bin Jalawi Al Saud, Governor of Jeddah, as the guest of honour. To jointly celebrate this commemorative occasion, His Highness Prince Saud bin Abdullah bin Jalawi Al Saud, together with the Acting Consul General of Thailand, Mr. Farid Saad Alshehri, Director-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Makkah Al Mukarramah Region branch, and Mr. Apichart Presertsud, Director of the Thai Trade Center in Jeddah, joined the traditional cake-cutting ceremony.
His Highness Prince Saud bin Abdullah bin Jalawi Al Saud extended his heartfelt wishes to Thailand and Thai people on the Thai National Day, he was pleased that relations between the two Kingdoms have been flourishing in the recent years and expressed his commitment to fostering further collaboration and enhancing the bonds of friendship between our two Kingdoms.
During delivering his speech, Acting Consul General of Thailand underscored an importance of the day “5 December” for Thailand and Thai people, reflecting on the remarkable legacy of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great, and His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn. He also emphasised the impactful relations and ongoing dynamic cooperation between the two Kingdoms, which have steadily grown during past 2 - 3 years.
The special programmes during the reception were the captivating Thai traditional performances by Thai students from Thai community in Jeddah followed by the arts of Muay Thai by members of Phoenix Gym. Specially, the Thai spicy soup, “Tomyum Kung” was also served to the esteemed guests during the reception in celebrating its recent inscription as an Intangible Cultural Heritage by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) on 3 December 2024.
