Director of Halal Institute of Prince of Songkla University visited Consul-General of Thailand to Jeddah

On the 11th December 2022, Asst. Pro. Dr. Asman Ta-ali, Director of the Halal Institution of Prince of Songkla University (PSU) and Asst. Pro. Dr. Ali Samao, Deputy Director visited Mr. Kitinai Nutakul, Consul-General of Thailand to Jeddah as part of the delegation’s visit to Jeddah and Madinah to promote Halal academic cooperation with local educational institutions.

The Consulate-General helped facilitate the meetings between the Halal Institution and the executives of the Islamic University in Madinah and King Abdul Aziz University in Jeddah. During their meetings, several topics were discussed such as an establishment of a co-ordination mechanism between the universities to materialize a cooperation in the future and an exchange of knowledge as well as an invitation to representatives from Saudi Arabia to participate in the World Halal Product Exhibition (World HAPEX) which will be organized by PSU in July 2023.

Furthermore, the Consul-General expressed his team’s readiness to support the Halal Institution’s initiative for Thai students in the Western Region of Saudi Arabia to participate in an introductory activity on Halal System Management, a non-degree course offered by the Institution. The Halal Institution has successfully concluded 2 batches of the course which allow the students to apply Halal knowledge into business operation in many fields including the ability to supervise the Halal manufacturing processes in Halal production facilities in Thailand in compliance with standards of the Central Islamic Committee of Thailand.
